Abstract

The article considers the Western views on integration and geopolitical ambitions of Russia and the former Soviet countries. The author examines in detail the reactions of Western countries to enhance the integration of the processes occurring in the former Soviet Union and concludes that Western countries objectively assessing the economic and geopolitical aspirations of the post-Soviet states, hope in the future to a mutually benefi cial partnership with them.
